Faith Seeking Understanding | The Hidden Depth of Christianity No One Told Me About
Faith in Jesus Christ is not without understanding—it’s not without reason. Anselm of Canterbury called theology “faith seeking understanding,” and that phrase captures the heart of what I want to explore in this new series.
Growing up in an evangelical setting, I was given the what of Christianity, but rarely the why. There wasn’t much depth, tradition, or awareness of the diversity of thought within the Church. Over time, through study and my own crises of faith, I’ve come to see the beauty and necessity of both conviction and dialogue.
In this video, I share my journey:
- Why theology must involve both faith and reason
- The tensions I saw between different Christian traditions
- How Scripture calls us to live at peace with one another (Romans 12:18)
- Why the diversity of Christian thought is something to celebrate
- My vision for teaching a more robust theology here on this channel
I’m still deeply evangelical, still love Scripture, and still cling to the hope of Christ. But I’ve also come to value the richness of Christian Tradition—and I want to invite you into that journey with me.
If you’ve ever wrestled with the “why” of your faith, or if you long for a deeper understanding of God and the Church, this series is for you.
